Parish Councillor’s come from various backgrounds and give their time freely to represent the views of all residents within the Parish; to listen to and understand the views and needs of different groups in the community.
Whilst elections are scheduled to take place every four years (next 2027) each year the Council elects a Chairman to oversee the conduct at meetings.
Councillors are accessible to residents to listen to their concerns and to deal with them or to pass them for action to the appropriate authorities directly, Whilst there is one vacancy for a Parish Councillor all current serving Councillors can be contatced using the following email addresses:

Stephen Hubner
I am married to Sue, with two children, Imogen (born 1997) and Ben (born 2001).
We arrived in Occold in 1994, moving into The Beeches. I have been a Parish Councillor since 1995, whilst Sue was Clerk to the Council until 2018.
I am a lawyer by profession, now working back in London as a partner in a Scottish firm, Shepherd + Wedderburn, and spend quite a lot of time on trains, if not travelling to Scotland or other parts of the world on business.
Although not therefore spending much time in the village during the average week, I do appreciate the weekends and the community spirit of Occold, and am presently a churchwarden, and, although not a member of ORAC, am a supporter of the new village hall project and have been known to provide legal advice to the committee from time to time.
I am also clerk to the village charities – the Henman’s Charity and the Lees and Last Charity. I can occasionally be seen jogging along the local roads on yet another attempt to make a comeback as a runner, having completed two London Marathons many years ago and having an aim (probably delusional) to complete another half marathon at least in the future!

Andrew Duggett
Andrew and his wife moved to Occold in 2013 after living in Ipswich since 2002 and Billericay before that since 1983 where they were both heavily involved in the Residents Association.
The main reason they decided to move house was a desire for a more rural way and pace of life as Ipswich was becoming very busy. After looking at properties in several villages across Suffolk they decided on Occold.
Whilst working there was little time to get involved in village matters but as he retired, after 42 years with HM Revenue and Customs working in Enforcement and Intelligence, he decided it was time to become more involved in our village and meet some new people.
He found the pre-Covid council meetings he attended interesting, everyone involved in the council has been friendly and welcoming, and this convinced him to volunteer to look after the website and change the SID battery!!.
Andrew has a keen interest in our village environment and would welcome the opportunity to devote some of his time and effort in working to maintain and hopefully improve village life.

Kevin Chittock
Born and bred in Ipswich with a lot of family ties in and around Debenham, I married Monica in 1971 and moved to Debenham for a more affordable property.
We lived there for 14 years where Katie and Adam were born, also born around the same time as Katie was Debenham Garage
Looking for a larger property, with very little we could afford in Debenham, we moved to Occold. I soon became involved with the school. Keeping it open was the first priority with 33 on the roll and rumours of small village schools being closed. Monica was treasurer and I was chairman of Friends of the School for quite a time. I served on ORAC for some years becoming vice chairman.
I was elected to the board of governors of the school and became chairman after 4 years, serving in this role for 9 years, seeing 3 extensions and 4 head teachers in this period. I was elected to Occold Parish Council whilst chair of governors. With all our three children having been educated at the school and moved on to Hartismere High I decided it was time to retire to make way for new parents. Around this time I was elected to be chairman of the Parish Council and held this post for 9 years. I am currently the vice chairman.

Having worked in central and local government posts for much of his career, he currently heads an integrated service for Norfolk County Council and Norfolk & Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group.
In his spare time Tim is a member of the Independent Monitoring Board for HMP Highpoint, an NHS Responder and became a Parish Councillor in Occold in June 2021. Tim is an active member of the Suffolk Wildlife Trust and a keen walker and traveller; you’ll spot him out and about in the village with his rescue collie Sprout.
